Dear All,
Apologies for cross posting.
I am pleased to report that I have recently been given the go-ahead to
appoint a half time Disability Adviser to work in the Student Enabling
Centre here at the University of Wolverhampton.
I am now having discussions with our Personnel department to determine the
appropriate grade and would appreciate any information, which can be
anonymous, that you may have on the roles and grades of similar posts in
other institutions. I have found similar pleas in the dis-forum archives
and imagine that anyone willing to provide information would prefer to post
it to me or send me a fax. My contact details are at the end of this
message.
This post holder will be involved in conducting needs assessments with
disabled students (excluding deaf or dyslexic students who have other staff
to support them). We will need someone who already has experience of such
assessments so that we can persuade LEAs to accept the post holder's
professional oppinion. The post holder will be involved in general student
casework but will not have to deal with policies or strategic issues at the
same time as I recognise the constant tensions when people are expected to
fulfill both functions.
My aim is to ensure that the post is graded at a rate similar to other
professionals in the field.
Any information would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Cindy
