Hi
Anybody help with this! What are the LEA regulations replacing equipment
that has been bought through the DSA, (E.G. laptop) but which breaks
(burned
out mother-board)? Bearing in mind there was no warranty on the
equipment,
as there rarely is on laptops due to the increased risks. I know LEA's
vary,
but, generally speaking, could they cover all/part/none of the cost of
buying a replacement?

You can easily get warranties on laptops, Toshiba include 3 year warranty in
the price for free on many models. Microlink and others charge about £240 for
3 years.
Laptops are more prone to failure partly because of the heat generated and
the difficulty dispersing it. You can increase or reduce laprop life by
changing the surfcae you use it on - Your *lap* will actually reduce its
life, like all electrical goods they should only be operated on a hard flat
surface.
