I enquired about this a few weeks ago and there doesn't seem to be anything
about. The situation I had was a student with a hearing loss who didn't want
a notetaker but was a trained touch typist and had sufficient hearing to be
able to transcribe tapes using good quality headphones.
The solution in the end (though it was a case of using a sledghammer to
crack a nut) was to record lectures onto a minidisk (and thus obtain a beter
quality digital recording) then record from mini disc onto an analogue tape
(student happened to have their own system with facility to record from
minidisc to analogue). This analogue tape could then transcribed using a
tape recorder operated by a footswitch.
The quality is not as good as digital, but the original can still be kept on the
minidisc for future reference.
