Hi St. John, Yes this is the state of things and has been for some time.
Some schools have provided extra funds for special equipment (based on
site) or some students get seconded by their local trust who then provide
some extra support. Otherwise tough! on the rest. This does only apply to
student nurses or midwives on Diploma courses usually, as most Degree
courses qualify as they are means-tested. This means that students in same
institutions on similar courses may not get the same support as one may be
on a diploma whilst another is on a degree programme.
And yes, the argument is alsways that they already receive more than most
other students plus they don't have to pay tuition fees.
