It would inded be good to see some forward movement on this. One of the
problems facing those in HE who might be prepared to be a little
'assertive' about this issue relates to the fact that HEIs have to bid
to the NHS for contracts to teach some nursing courses. For this reason
it would be helpful if pressure/persuasion came from a more independent
source (eg Skill) - albeit informed by those who have contact with
nursing students, and - ideally - the students themselves.
We are currently running a small research project focusing on support
for nursing students and would be happy to contribute to any Skill
initiative.
