As an institution we certainly do send information to students, at
addresses provided by them, outside the EEA and rely upon the need to
perform the contract between us and the student. We also need to ensure
that our DP notification registers this, of course. On enrolling, students
are also informed of the way that we will handle their data and they sign a
form agreeing to the use of their personal data.

Subject: Transfers of staff data outside the EEA
Are other institutions who are supporting students outside the EEA (and
therefore need to transfer staff data outside the EEA) relying on the
ground
that this is necessary for the performance of the contract between the data
controller and the student?
