4th Annual Keep I.T. Legal Conference - 16th May 2001 - East Midlands
Conference Centre, Nottingham
The Conference will concentrate on the issues affecting the employer/employee
relationships covered by the legislation and likely to cause some friction in
the workplace, such as the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000,
restricting the interception of employees' e-mails and Internet usage; the
Lawful Business Practice Regulations which allowed certain interceptions for
a limited number of purposes; the Office of the Data Protection
Commissioner's Code of Practice on employer/employee relationships; the
storage and use of employee records, both manual and computerised;
appropriate security including controlling disclosures; CCTV and other
surveillance methods into the workplace; staff training and instruction;
employee contracts; internal codes of practice; staff vetting and police
checks via the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).
Data Protection Officers, Personnel / Human Resources specialists and legal
representatives will be able to hear the experts' views, pose questions and
receive practical guidance on compliance with the legislation.
The Fourth Annual Keep I.T. Legal Conference for Data Protection Officers
will address these issues in the form of invited speakers from the Office of
the Data Protection Commissioner, the TUC, Privacy International, Aikin
Driver Partnership, the CBI and the Criminal Records Bureau.
The cost of this one-day event is just £250 plus VAT - there are discounts
available for further delegates from the same organisation.
