I think they got it sufficiently correct and confusing enough to cover
their rear ends :-) I was discussing this today behind the bike sheds (I
shall not explain why I was discussing it, bu bike sheds should be
obvious).

I think it plays the RIP stuff. Ie. the email - and the reply to the
email (it should say) are not private - because the Council has nothing
better to do but nosey into their employees' and external correspondent's
email messages.

In this instance they have not heard of the RIP act.
Therefore elementary Dear Maurice (or Watson if you prefer).
Point 1 was written by solicitors considering RIP whereas point 2 was
written by another firm of solicitors considering Data Protection.
Point 3 (you did not quote) was written - bless them - by their IT
department at the instruction of some firm of solicitors. IF THEY SEND
PLAIN ASCII MESSAGES, LIKE EDWINA DID, HOW COULD THEY CARRY A VIRUS?
Was it swept for Foot and Mouth? I want to know!!!
Sorry for ranting. I am preparing myself. Two weeks break and then I have
to face all this stuff for real.
Charles
PS. Was George Orwell out by 20 odd years?
