Take great care with this one. Unofficially referred to as "List 99 and a
half" it has been declared illegal by many knowledgable experts.
List 99 is the official government list of known sex offenders - this is the
one that local authorities should be using. Some councils have compiled
their own lists that include accusations, innuendo, malicious claims and
unsubstantiated charges. In some cases, the people on the list have been
investigated and cleared.
If the person is harmed in any way as a result of their inclusion on these
unofficial lists they will be able to sue the authority(ies) concerned.
As I understand it, List 99 was extended recently to include cases proven to
the civil evidence level, not just criminal offences. In other words people
sacked for such offences but not necessarily successfully prosecuted.
Councils should have no reason for any additional "lists".
