If this has been reported accurately (and I note the story isn't
available any more), then they have it wrong. Twice.
Firstly, it's not an interception unless someone other than the intended
recipient or sender sees the message. Now try to tell me someone other
than these two does.
Secondly, and email is a communication until delivered to the recipient.
It doesn't matter where in the chain of delivery it is, if something
happens it's the same.
