Thanks for your response, a question though, did your authority issue guidelines to staff about dealing direct with councillors. Reason being that Councillors may in cases request access to personal data of staff or clients, are all staff fully trained in D.P enought to know when or if to disclose information. Might they not give in to authority for fear of doing the "right thing"?????????

Hi Paula
I dn't know about England& Wales but up here in Scotland - Councillors are
employed by the Council and therefore like the rest of us are employees. In
fact some of our Councillors are already on our address book for e-mail.
Also any internal telephone directory is available both electronically and
in paper format to all emplloyees so councillors being employees, why not.
Tell me if it differs in England/Wales.
