Traditionally at the Unversity of Portsmouth this role has resided
within the Information Services Organisation (ie Central IT Support
Group) currently I wear the "hat" in addition to other duties.

More recently it has been divided between myself and the Head of
the University Secretariat.

However with the advent of all the recent legislation I have
recommended that this role should be fully susumed under the
University Secretariat and be expanded to cover the Records
Management role to be able to comply with Freedom of Information
Act responsibilities due in 2004.
