When a person applies for mortgage/loan from a lender the application form
that they sign contains a clause that authorises the lender to verify
salary/address details etc with employers. The lender then writes/phones
employers to confirm details.
Does the employer verify details on the basis that for the contact to be
made in the first place, the data subject must have given contact details to
the lender. Alternatively, should the employer require a copy of the signed
consent clause held be the lender, or should the mortgage applicant/employee
be contacted to give consent for the verification of the details.
