I can recall a statement from ACPO that they would not become data
controllers of CCTV systems. Reading Appendix 1 - Policy of the
Association of Chief Police Officers, of the Home Offices' "CCTV Closed
Circuit Television - Looking out for you" publication It appears that is
still the case.
It may be this debate would be academic if all forces had knowledge of, and
implemented, the agreed policy.
