My view is that the legislation has been created to stamp out many abuses
including this one. Interesting that sexual orientation is not requested as
well (and yes I KNOW that is intrusive, I am being silly!)
It is up to US, and people like us, to ensure that our own organisations do
not collect such intrusive data. Also up to us, I think, is to grow this
list to a wider audience, to educate and inform. YES, we will cover the
same ground again, and often, but, in the global scheme of things, "so
what?"

Subject: Medical Data, sub issue
One medical screening questionnaire I was recently asked to complete
(sedentary office job) had 36 questions re. diseases/conditions from anxiety
to typhoid with a yes/no box and full details required if I answered yes to
any of them. It then went on to ask how many cigarettes I smoked per day,
how many glasses of wine, pints of beer, measures of spirits I imbibed per
week and then enquired if any of my immediate family had suffered from a
list of six diseases. Not quite satisfied with that lot, I was asked if my
parents were deceased and, if so, the cause of death.
Adequate, relevant and not excessive ...?
