This was outside my normal DP comfort zone, so I appreciate the help.
The organisations purpose here is genuine and may indeed help some of the people who would be contacted.
But that doesn't make it legal.
I also appreciate the comments that no great harm would be done,
but this may not be the view of all individuals who receive the letter.
Like Tim, my own automatic reaction was that this just wasn't moral.
So I tried to assess if it was legal.
Not least because I personally think it is likely that someone would take exception to receiving such a letter.
For whatever reason.
Particular thanks to Ian for his post as this has helped me frame the issue in DP terms, which is what I was struggling with.
Having now firmed up my understanding I'm confident the organisation will follow my advice.
