parent for a copy of the jotters. There may be be the disproportionate

I don't see how a pupil's academic work, in a jotter or otherwise, can be
personal data. It doesn't tell us anything about the pupil; it's only
evidence of how a pupil has attempted a particular task. What IS personal
data (IMO, at least) is the teacher's personal notes on each pupil's
progress.
A pupil's work is, I expect, as a matter of course shown to his/her parents
at a Parents' Evening (Parent Consultations, as they're known at my son's
school)
and the teacher will surely comment on the pupil's progress. But the teacher
does not
(and IMO certainly should not) refer to the work or progress of other
pupils. As a parent,
I'm interested (and delighted!) to know that his teacher considers my son to
be in the top ten of the class; but knowing whether or not he is above (say)
Matthew, Mark, Luke or John is neither necessary nor beneficial.
