Consent for the lender to seek details (and verification) is not consent for
the data controller to disclose, particularly where the individual is not
given an opportunity to object. If the person sees the information to be
sent (and perhaps signs a photocopy of it to authorise the disclosure) they
can confirm that they have actually asked the company for a loan/mortgage.
If you adopt this method, the data subject can also check it for accuracy -
saving you principle 4 problems if the person doesn't get the loan/mortgage.
