I'll stick my neck above the parapet here at Wolverhampton Council we keep
this data for 6 months. Then it is depersonalised for the statistical
monitoring purposes that you have stated, we care currently looking at
requesting consent from unsuccessful candidate to keep their details for a
further six months, in case any similar positions become available.

Subject: Retention of job application data
Dear Colleagues,
I would be interested to hear what other institutions do with
regard to the retention of (unsuccessful) job applicants' personal
data, particular the Equal Opportunities sensitive data. I'm told
that for reporting/statistical purposes the latter has to be
retained, but for how long do other institutions retain this in
an identifiable format (i.e. with name/DoB/ref no. data attached,
NOT anonymised data)?
Thank you.
Best wishes,
Adrian
