My understanding (as also a charity trustee) is that charity
status exemption is primarily for small clubs, church
administration etc..
The Notification Handbook also says that you do not have to
notify if your processing is only for:
Staff Administration
Advertising, marketing and public relations
Accounts and records
I would have thought it likely that a hospice would be handling
some records in addition to this (especially patient records).
Why not ask the OIC for a (free) copy of the Notification
Handbook which claims to be "The Complete Guide to Notification"!
