But polling agents are part of the voting process, surely? They are
appointed by the Candidates to help prevent impersonation, part of which
process is noting who is voting and comparing that with records back at
their committee rooms. Wot? Mrs Jones has voted? But surely she's still in
hospital?
It is apparant that an awful lot of people aren't completely familiar with
the election process. In past elections I have seen people go up to one of
the tellers (usually the one they favour) and whisper their polling number
to them, only to have a look of surprise appear on their face when the
teller immediately shares the number with tellers from other parties who are
present.
