Hi
If it is in connection with a serious offence/crime then we are all under an
obligation to produce the information. Up here in Scotland if it is a
general enquiry there is a special form which the Police must fill in, in
which they must state the purpose they are requesting the information rather
than them e.g. going into a company and saying we are looking for Mr X - we
believe he worked here - can you give us his address when it may just be in
connection with late payment of a fine relating to a minor traffice offence.
