Yes, But the necessary art is in achieving compliance with the principles.
The simplest method for the purpose you describe could be to have the web
cam(s) zoomed out to such a level that no personally identifiable material
is captured or broadcast. Then ensuring no accidents could happen to cause
the camera(s) to be zoomed in at any stage. By doing that the data
protection act issues should not arise as the material captured would not be
personal data.
There will undoubtedly be views on the degree of zoom necessary to achieve
depersonalisation.....
For the group - would journalistic or artistic purposes arise??? Do either
of those purposes apply to advertising?
