Dear Dis-forum,
Currently at Oxford, we are looking into the possibility of establishing a
disability contact person in each department and college. At present we are
trying to decide on a role description for these people. This will be a
relatively informal position that is added onto a staff members existing
role.
If anyone out there has experience of establishing this role and would be
willing to share with us any documentation or advice you have, we'd be
really grateful!!!!
Specifically, we would like to know:
1. What role were these contacts assigned?
2. Did they work with students or just act as a information point for
staff?
3. Has the establishment of this role been helpful and if so, in what ways?
4. If you set this up again, what would you do differently, with the
benefit of hindsight?
5. What training do you offer people who undertake this role?
I look forward to hearing from you either on or off list.
Many thanks in antisipation
