Statementing only exists within the statutory education sector, ie it only
applies to schools but can be extended to the age of 19 if a young person
stays on at school until that time. As soon as the student leaves school
the Statement ceases to have any legal authority, although most FE colleges
would treat it as evidence of support need when assessing incoming students.
