i would think that it was a question of the Norsemen learning the ins and outs
of the new opus francorum so they could take it back home with them, there
being a considerable need for new churches to house the relatively new
religion in those parts.
i'd be curious to know what sort of record might be the source for the mention
of those guys; too early, i would think, for chapter/fabric records (like the
extensive 14-16th century ones which survive at Troyes and enabled Stephen
Murray to reconstruct the building of the cathedral there in astonishing
detail). perhaps a narrative history of the construction at Lincoln?
