Saints: a study in patterned lives for analysis of prophetic designation,
pre-birth miracles etc. She seems to derive it from pre-Christian hero stories
but I don't think that's entirely accepted.
don't see why it wouldn't be: suchlike events are quite common in Hindu and
Buddhist (esp. Tibetan) hagiographies as well, i am given to understand.
probably to be found in muslim traditions as well (though i suppose these
might not be considered pre-christian by the pickie). or, amongst the
greeks?
the christian west (or east) has no monopoly on saints, after all.
do some scratching, i would imagine you could unearth a lifetime's worth of
reading on the subject.
