Not sure what the info is to be used for but for information HEIs have just
received additional 'mainstream' funds to support disabled students across
the whole institution. These funds were allocated on the basis of the
numbers of students in receipt of DSAs. A 'complicated' sum was then done to
allow for the numbers of students not eligible to claim DSA. This does not
answer your question but it may be advanced warning of a future intention on
the part of the FEFC to work with HEFCE to look at funding FE colleges with
HE students in a similar way to mainstream HE.

Subject: DSA Data Collection in FE
Hello everyone has anyone got ideas on the following:
The FEFC are requesting information on HE students in receipt of DSA for
2000/01.
This will identify students who are in the instituion (who we know) access
the DSA.
Does anyone know if the stats collected are going to be used for funding
purposes?
What happens to the students who are assessed as external students.
The documents concerned are:
Data Collection Technical Discussion Document 28
Student Data Set Fields (ISR Manual) page 49
Thanks
