APOLOGIES FOR ANY CROSS MESSAGING
Hello!
I am currently researching the possibility of editing a book about the deaf
student's experience of university as the next title in the 'How I...' book
series, published by the University of Lancaster (dept. of Independent
Studies) in collaboration with The Guardian.
These books share the experiences of people who have conquered similar
situations and their opinions rather than a prescriptive approach that tell
people how things ought to be. I want to produce a book which is realistic,
positive and encouraging with a strong personal element as an additional and
alternative source of support and advice.
There are three preliminary areas of investigation which I am trying to
tackle presently and need help with:
(1) I was hoping someone could tell me where I can find information for deaf
students who are thinking about entering higher education.
I am interested to know what shapes their decisions, factors and problems
they have to consider and so on.
(2) Is there any material that anyone has come across which is similar to
what I propose? Was it useful? Is there a market/need for such a book?
Would it be of interest?
(3) Is there anyone who is interested in sharing their own experience in the
book or knows someone who might? Is there any way that I can easily contact
deaf graduates eg. a specific discussion list or website?
Opinions, advice, ideas, anything at all will be gratefully received!
I can be contacted directly via [log in to unmask] or through mailbase,
which ever is easiest.
Kelly Luiz.
