>From a British University's point of view, I visited a University in the US
last year and looked at the services offered, I have to say in all honesty
that our services were comparable, dare I say in some cases superior in my
humble opinion, the ony difference is the funding and the fact that British
Universities don't have to spend all their time second guessing whether they
will sued or not, I believe this affects the 'client/provider' relationship.

Diane works as a Psychologist for the Disabilities Centre at Algonquinc
College in Ontario. I forwarded her Sarah's e-mail and I shall leave you to
judge comparative levels of service re Canada/UK.

I have not heard of the organization referred to and the standard of
services to
LD post-secondary students varies from province to province. Ontario has
quite
good services in most institutions. At the Centre for Students with
Disabilities we have a coordinator and 5 counsellors and 2 academic
assistants.
Two of us do assessments and we serve approx 1000plus students woth a
variety of
disabilities, about 40% are LD. Services for LD include note-takers,
scribes,
books on tape, tutoring. There is a government bursary to pay for academic
supports, but this is tied in to being on a student loan. There is some
variety
in this from province to province too. The university of Saskatchewan had
virtually no formalized services for LD when we left the province 4+ years
ago.
You would have to look at each institution to see what services were in
place.
