Penn,
I recently sent an enquiry similar to yours to the list 'accessibuilt'. We
were looking for people to audit the plans for our new building at the
University of Wolverhampton, but many of the organisations who responded to
me can do audits from plans and audits of existing buildings.
Here are some of the contacts I received. They are not in any order of
preference.

Centre for Accessible Environments www.cae.co.uk (I think!)

Dickinson Associates please ask Graham Capper ([log in to unmask])
for the details as I was given the details from him.
The Centre for accessible environments run a list of approved access
auditors and also do audits themselves.
There is also a new National register of Access Consultants (see
www.nrac.ac.uk)
Having gathered this information, the university is now going to draw up a
tender document and ask organisations to tender for the work.
Each institution will have its own needs, so I feel that the choice of an
appropriate auditor should be made by a partnership between Estates or
other similar department and someone with knowledge of disability-related
access issues within the institution.
I hope this is helpful.
Regards,
Cindy
