If you want to use the web interface to change your list membership settings it can be a
little confusing. Some people are trying to use this and are ending up adding their name
to the list twice!
If you go to http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/dis-forum.html
and choose "Join or leave the JISCmail list (or change settings)"
you are presented with a screen that, initially, only lets you join or leave dis-forum. If you
type in your email address, name and then customise the options at the bottom of the
screen, you will end up with a second account that has these settings!
If you wish to change settings for an existing membership you must first create an
account (otherwise anybody could be claiming to be you and could change your
settings). This only has to be done once. Click on "login with your LISTSERV password"
then click "get a new LISTSERV password first" on the next screen. Type in your details
and click the "Register password" button. You will then receive an email with instructions
on what to do next. (This ensures the email address you specified is really you).
Once you are successfully registered, return to the "Join or leave the JISCmail list (or
change settings)" page, and click "login with your LISTSERV password". One you have
done this you will reach a screen where you can alter your options then click the "update
options" button to confirm.
It's really not as complicated as it sounds!
