The Compaq M300 is 23mm thick weighs in at 1.4 to 1.6Kg, depending on
spec.
If price is an issue the Asus/HiGrade 8200 weighs in at 1.8Kg and is 26mm
thick. In PIII-600, 128MB, 12GB & 12.1" TFT form it costs £1480 + VAT but
this includes the USB port bar and external USB floppy and CD-ROM drives.
Note that the battery life tends to be much shorter on these lightweight
notebooks than on 'conventional' notebooks. Also, I haven't tried any of them
for voice input performance so I would be tempted to play safe and go for the
Dragon Naturally Speaking USB mic.
