Sorry to be so late responding to this. An excellent supplier, near to UCL,
is Litvinoff & Fawcett who make their own mattresses and beds. Their
details are as follows:
238 Gray's Inn Road
London WC1 020 7278 5391
(main showroom) 281 Hackney Road
London E2 8NA 020 7739 3480
Major problem? their extremely comfortable beds are pine slatted and self
assembly. They are extremely easy to assemble and dismantle, however,
"taking minutes rather than hours", in their words.
I have personally purchased three beds from them can and can therefore
vouch for their quality. the orthopaedic and super orthopaedic mattresses
are excellent, although a friend with an extremely bad back purchased and
has been very happy with the orthopaedic finding the super orthopaedic to
be too hard.
For an extra £10 they will raise a bed by up to eight inches, which many
elderly or infirm buyers have requested.
