Has anyone taken advice on the following problem in connection with
confidential references?
What happens where the data controller (in this case the University of
York) is not only the giver of a confidential reference (done by Heads
of Department for academic promotions) but also the receiver? Are the
references exempt from access because the institution is the giver?
Have other institutions given any specific guidance to referees on
providing references for consideration by Promotion Committee etc?
Any feedback gratefully received!
