It is a pity that BSI's general pricing approach is designed to discourage
people from accessing relevant information. While the BSI is obviously not
responsible for ensuring that our laws are easy to understand, it is a shame
that such information is not available free of charge.
Having thought of it, since the ODPC is a public authority, what is there to
stop me using the powers available under the Freedom of Information Act to
request the ODPC to supply me with a copy of any document it has co-authored
with the BSI, or commented on prior to publication by the BSI?
Regards
Martin

As one of the original authors, I can confirm that the pricing is in line
with BSI's general pricing approach. it is worth bearing in mind it is a
loose-leaf service, so the price includes updates. I get no royalties, so
I have no vested interest either way!
