Denis Garfield sent me the following under the 1984 Act.
Hi Jackie, under the old Act you could use the non disclosure exemption
whih is shown in the guidelines book page 100 section B.7.1. This states
that you can make a disclosure where it is 'required by statute, by any rule
of law or by order of the court'. Usually in these instances I get the
requesting body to fax me a copy of the relevant document that they are
quoting and will read it through to ensure that I feel that it is covered by
this exemption. Failing that you can always get a view from your legal
team.
Exemption 35 would seem to be the relevant part of the 1998 Act.
