This conversation reminds me I must follow this up with one of my
children's schools. When I last spoke to them, they said they'd be
issuing School email addresses RSN. (I've not heard more).
When I asked the IT teacher, at that Parents Evening, whether my child
could continue to use its existing email address, the reply was along
the lines of "why would they have one of those". <sigh>
Meanwhile, one of the weekly newsletters did say they'd be sending home
some kind of "School/Pupil IT Contract" which outlined the conditions
that the child would be "allowed" to access the school's IT facilities.
It sounded very take-it-or-leave-it. I will examine whatever turns up
with great interest; especially the provisions for the Internet, Data
Protection and Privacy.
