Karen
Apologies if you have received responses to your question - I have
only just been able to view my email with the start of first term - need
I say more!
Here at Uni of Dundee we naturally access each student as an
individual, however a rough guide is for a student requiring rest
breaks, we allocate on so many extra minutes per hour of
examination. So a student with chronic back pain, who requires to
walk about and take medication etc would probably be given 10 - 15
minutes per hour extra (obviously with confirmation of medical
grounds by doctor/specialist) so on a three hour exam that is 30 -
45 minutes extra.
Our V.I. students receive time and a half which makes for a long
exam so we arrange with the invigilator to give the student a drink
about half way through(along with the invigilator),
In answer to your question 2. Yes we often have students requiring
similar arrangements in the same room, except those requiring a
scribe! Both space and invigilators are a scarcity.
Congratulations and Good Luck in your new role - it will be
exacerbating, exciting and enjoyable.
Regards
Di Shaw
