Yo,
Is it not up to the judges and the courts to decide what is the punishment
for an offence? Home secretaries are ephemeral and their views as those of
the most "successful" politicians change according to electoral cycles.
In the last 20 or so years there has been sufficient use of the police for
political purposes. Just as the police are showing a slightly independent
mind let us curtail it.
