Dear Martin
This is an ideal opportunity to tell you and other dis-forum users of a
project I am curretlty working on. The Claudine project is building on
an exisitng consortium of librarians (CLAUD) in HE institutions in the
south and southwest of England to improve access to library services
for disabled users. The consortium meet three times a year with an
annual CLAUD conference in the summer. I am currently working on a
CLAUD webpage with the intention of disseminating information on
equipment, organisations, CLAUD news/meetings and so on. A CLAUD
newsletter is also in the pipeline. Another aim of the project is to
develop training/induction materials for both library staff and
disabled users. I hope eventually to produce guidelines on best
practice.
You may also wish to contact the University of Southampton Library who
have a magnificent Assistive Technology Centre at the Hartley Library
site.
