Hello
I've been using an A4 Epson Perfection 1200U scanner too - it seems to do
all the jobs I've thrown at it really well. It's nice and easy to use, and
comes with reasonable software.
We got it from Jessops as they will price match everything - even the web.
They were very helpful advising us on what would suit our needs best. Then
all I had to do was find it cheaper elsewhere,(www.kellcoo.co.uk is a good
start), printed out the pages as evidence and took them down to the shop.
They checked them out with their headoffice - and matched it. I saved about
£40 on the scanner, and got a great digital camera for £225 rather than
£300. I've always found Jessops are good with their aftercare service too.
Hope that helps,
Catherine

Hi Jeremy
At Special Collections, Leeds Uni, we have an A3 Epson Expression 1640XL
which is fab as is A3 size and good quality. Cost about £1 500.
Otherwise we use an A4 Epson Perfection 1200U scanner at the National Arts
Education Archive at Bretton Hall which is also fast and good quality, and
prob retails at under £200?
It's worth getting one with a slide scanning hood too as this comes in
useful scanning anything on 35mm or bigger slides. Usually not more than £50
extra. Try looking on the Jessops website.
Good luck!
Sonja

To anyone who knows about scanners.
We at Manchester jewish Museum are looking to improve the quality of our
leaflets by getting a decent photo scanner. We use Windows 98 and Word 97.
Can anyone recommend a compatible scanner, easy to install at a reasonable
price? If so, please contact me at [log in to unmask]
Thanks
Jeremy Michelson
