NEMLAC Access & Learning Networks - Evaluation Consultant
In order to develop and improve services to existing learners, as well as to
new users, improved skills are required by the people who work in the cultural
sector. To tackle this skills gap, NEMLAC has created four sub-regional
networks to identify, support and develop the skills of people working in the
cultural sector (arts, museums, libraries & archives) across Northumberland,
Tyne & Wear, County Durham and Tees Valley.
To inform the development of the Networks in the future, an evaluation of the
impact of the Networks is required by NEMLAC. NEMLAC is looking to appoint an
experienced person to undertake quantitative and qualitative research and
produce a report and recommendations.
Applicants should have the following:
At least 2 years experience of evaluation, preferably in the training,
education or cultural sectors
bility to employ a range of creative evaluative techniques (as well as
experience of interviews and organising focus groups)
good knowledge of the cultural sector, in particular the current professional
skills development issues
ood time management skills; excellent communication skills; ability to produce
high quality reports
bility to manage a diverse workload under pressure
illingness to travel across the North East region.
Timescale: 15 days' work; to be delivered at agreed stages between September
and November 2003. Closing date: Friday 5th September, 2003. Fee: £180 per day
x 15 days = £2,700. A further 5 days are available if required. Travel and
subsistence can be claimed in addition to this fee up to a maximum of £300.
