Maybe I needed to make another two phone calls. I still haven't received
the press release I asked for. I thought one call would be enough,
especially as I had already expressed interest in the venture and had
invited myself to the earlier launch.
As to their web site, hasn't been changed in months as far as I can
tell. The site for Christmas lectures, like the events themselves, seem
to be a creature of the BBC.

Subject: Re: RI Science Media Centre
Its recent 'launch' seems to raise more questions than it answers.
The original blurb about the centre said that funding would come from
a 'wide variety of sources' with none contributing more than 5%, and
yet the press release for the launch on 7 November, singles out one
person 'whose generous donation has made the centre possible'.
My only other experience of the centre, so far, was that I could find
nothing on the RI website about it at all and it took 3 phone calls
before I could get hold of a copy of the press release about the
centre's launch. If I'd been a journalist covering the story I might
well have given up - not a good start.
I would particularly like to know more about whether all scientists
will have access to the centre, or whether they have to be affiliated
to the RI in some way?
