I'm interested by this notion of feel bad movies and they
way in your examples they are not the antithesis of feelg
good movies but rather that they share a format, say the
buddy movie and somehow invert that. How would feel bad
movies then relate to some recent British films, Naked for
example. If the definition of feel bad is based on
audience response then there are
several films I can think of which are notorious for the
feel bad factor. Nil By Mouth, Ladybird Ladybird, Scum. The
bleakness of these movies appear however to be linked
directly to social issues. These are just some thoughts
rather than an argument. But I'd be interested if they
forward the discussion any.
