David - this may be outside your brief, it relates to Ayurvedic medicine.
See: Dunbabin DW et al. Lead poisoning from Indian herbal medicine,
Medical Journal of Australia 1992;157:835-6 I had a nearly identical case
about three years later. In my case the powder was dispensed in an
unlabelled paper packet but again contained lead, arsenic and mercury salts
and caused symptomatic lead poisoning in the patient after return to
Australia.

Subject: Toxicologic aspects of herbal remedies
I am currently working on a presentation on this topic. I would appreciate
any resources or good articles that people are aware of (especially if they
have dealt with these types of cases in their institutions); More
importantly, any anecdotal cases that you have seen and had to work up
toxicologically, I would like to hear about to enhance my presentation
(with proper credit given of course to the lender)
Thank You
