I'm in the Musicians' Union, which provides Public Liability
Insurance, as well as other benefits, as part of membership. Since
most of what you're doing comes under the broad heading of
"performance", it might be worth contacting the actors' union,
Equity. I believe they provide similar benefits to members. They would
at least be able to give you some pointers.
Best wishes,

Of course, we were covered by the organisation's insurance! I am now setting up business as a sole trader, providing an interpretation, storytelling and living history service to small museums, local heritage conservation projects and schools.

I would be really grateful if anyone would be prepared to let me know, off-list, of any other insurance providers which deal with this sort of activity? Other providers only seem to list the more traditional businesses types on their web quotation forms, and I don't want to waste a huge amount of time and a (fairly) huge amount of money phoning around insurance companies who don't insure such specialist businesses.
