medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
From: Ms B M Cook <[log in to unmask]>
> Now what makes you think that the son of A & H (of all people !) would be
meek, dutiful and unable to make up his own mind as to what he would do ??
( (:-) )
so, since that mischevious little scamp, Abelard, had (presumably) nothing
whatever to do with Astro's upbringing, you're saying that boldness,
irreverence and deciseviness are, essentially, genetic traits?
>Abelard's brother, Canon Porcharius of Nantes Cathedral...had been a resident
"father figure" to young Astralabe.
WOA!
you mean that Astro had a *brother*?
an *OLDER* brother??
non non, this won't fit into the Standard Screenplay for the Movie at all.
definitely time for a Script Revision before we go into Production.
>Apart from claiming that Astr was one of Hauterive's founding fathers in 1137
- which clearly won't fit - the evidence for Astralabe of Hauterive being
Abelard's son is sound and reliable.
i should hope so.
much of the Main Plot hinges on that particular Historical Factoid having been
the case.
> The story is complex and in places quite exciting but you will have to buy
my book - due out in 2 / 3 years - to learn the whole story.
then what use is this list?
besides, any book which takes less than three decades to finish up can hardly
be worth buying...
c
p.s. Look for my book, _The Angels of Etampes_ --begun c. 1969-- to be
completed and available from a bookdealer near you sometime early in this
millennium.
