This is an intriguing comment since it is what I used to try drilling into my students, that these terms excessively pigeonhole stylistic developments that (in
spite of 1144) are not as absolutely demarked as many seem to think.
My question: what term would you recommend to describe the eras (if any) and - short of doing highly focused regional studies - how would you see the
ideal presentation of the period?
