EDUCATION OFFICER (PH.060)
Inclusive Salary Up To £25,203 Per Annum
St Albans Museums Service is an important resource for schools museum
visits in the Eastern Region, with around 35,000 visits per year, mainly to
study Roman life at Verulamium Museum. Learning is at the centre of our
vision and we are looking for an enthusiastic person to continue developing
our schools, life-long learning and outreach initiatives, and advise the
museum service on learning issues.
The role involves the development and implementation of the Learning
Strategy, day to day supervision of the teaching team including the
management of learning and access within the service, provision of teaching
sessions, printed resources, workshops and other activities.
Educated to degree standard or equivalent in History/Archaeology or similar
you will also have a postgraduate teaching and/or museum qualification.
Two years’ experience of education work within a museum or cognate body is
essential and school teaching experience would be an advantage.
Knowledge of the National Curriculum, museum education and life-long
learning issues is essential for this post together with good communication
skills and the ability to develop and promote the museum’s learning
strategy and educational works programme.
